WHO WE ARE
A strategic position...
The Bordeaux Port Authority (GPMB) is a state-owned establishment ranked 6th among France's Grands Ports Maritimes.
It stretches over a hundred kilometers and boasts 7 specialized port terminals, distributed along the Gironde and Garonne estuaries, thus benefiting from a privileged location.

In the immediate vicinity of the Bordeaux metropolis, the port is also the focal point of a dense, multimodal communications network, offering the opportunity to reach an extensive European market.
...at the heart of a dynamic region
The Port of Bordeaux is located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, France's largest, covering 84,000 square kilometers and with a population of 6 million.
With 10 conurbations of over 100,000 inhabitants, New Aquitaine is home to a wealth of resources and skills clusters, and represents a major job pool (particularly in the agrifood, wood and paper industries, aeronautics, space, defense, advanced materials (including composites and ceramics), green chemistry and eco-processes, renewable energies).
It is also France's leading agricultural region (with 180,000 jobs in agriculture, including agri-food and wine & spirits) and 71,000 farms.
With 720 km of coastline, Nouvelle-Aquitaine is the3rd region in France in terms of maritime employment. It boasts 4 seaports: La Rochelle, Rochefort Tonnay Charente, Bordeaux and Bayonne, as well as 8 fishing ports.
The Port of Bordeaux is a member of the Aquitania Ports Link association, which brings together the New Aquitaine Region, the New Aquitaine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the region's four commercial ports to work on joint projects and actions.

... A major player in the estuary
A major player in the estuary, the Port of Bordeaux handles a wide variety of goods: cereals, bulk materials, containers, bulk energy...
With annual traffic of 6.3 million tonnes by 2024, it is both a gateway for all the resources needed in the region (energy products, raw materials, etc.) and an export outlet for products from the south-west (cereals, quarry products, secondary raw materials, etc.).
A driving force in the regional economy, the Bordeaux industrial port complex is expected to create 8,620 jobs by 2022, in nearly 232 companies. It covers 95% of the energy needs of the south-west region, and boasts a vast 2,500-hectare land area offering numerous opportunities for industrial and logistics development.

Ecological responsibility
Located in an area of great ecological wealth, the Port of Bordeaux has a responsibility in today's ecological, energy and societal transitions.
He is responsible, within the limits of his constituency, for implementing public policies on port planning and sustainable development, in conjunction with the economy, employment and the environment.
