General Management

The Bordeaux Port Authority is managed by Jean-Frédéric LAURENT, Managing Director and Chairman of the Board.

Under the supervision of the Supervisory Board, Bordeaux Port Authority is managed by a three-person Executive Board. The Executive Board is responsible for strategic decisions, operational management and management control.

Accounting agency

Bordeaux Port Authority, as a National Public Institution, follows the rules of Public Budgetary and Accounting Management. The Accounting Agency is responsible for bookkeeping, revenues, expenses and financial accounts. The Accounting Officer also advises management on financial matters.

Harbour master's office

The harbor master's office is staffed by professionals in charge of port policing. Under the authority of the harbour master, the port officers (OP), their deputies (OPA) and surveillance auxiliaries ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

The harbour master's office is also responsible for the safety and security of the facilities, and for emergency management.

The firm

The Executive Office liaises between the port, its partners, the public and institutional players. It has two main missions: communication and external relations, and secretarial duties.

Administrative and financial support

The Administrative and Financial Department coordinates support services such as finance, purchasing and infrastructure management. Its role is to ensure the proper management of resources and to support operational departments.

・The Finance Department is responsible for management control and budget execution. It draws up and manages the establishment's budget while anticipating financial risks.

・The Legal and General Resources Department comprises two departments:

・Legal department: legal advice, contract management and litigation.
・Purchasing department: Purchasing policy and drafting of public procurement contracts.

The Human Resources Department oversees the implementation of the strategic human resources management guidelines laid down by General Management, provides support to operational departments and employees on all HR issues, and participates in coordinating social dialogue.

She is also in charge of the Occupational Health and Safety and General Resources departments, which aim to protect the health and safety of our employees and provide them with a working environment that meets their needs.

Development and innovation

The Development and Innovation Department is in charge of developing the port's activities in response to modern challenges linked to the energy and ecological transition. Its teams explore solutions to support the development of maritime traffic while adapting to a rapidly changing world. The department includes the Logistics and Industry Development Department and the IS and Digital Development Department, which steer technological innovation.

Maintenance and production

The Production Works Division is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of port facilities. Its specialized workshops are dedicated to large-scale technical work:

・Boiler-making division: Manufacture and repair of metal structures.
Mechanical division: Engine and port equipment maintenance.
Naval cluster: Ship repair infrastructure management.
Energy cluster: Installation and maintenance of electrical networks.

The Supply Department handles all types of procurement, managing purchase requisitions and stocking goods and parts in warehouses.

The Maintenance Department is in charge of maintenance work and upkeep of port areas. The Production Works Department is in charge of carrying out development and conservation work on port facilities (sheds, quaysides, buildings, maritime structures), by managing operations or project management.

Boating access maintenance

Subject to sedimentary inputs from the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, the nautical capacities of the navigation channel (depths) and port structures are maintained by continuous dredging operations. Two dredgers and two hydrographic launches are assigned to the Bordeaux Port Authority for surveillance and maintenance work.

Strategy and Planning

The Strategy and Planning Department is responsible for ensuring the port's development, reconciling environmental issues, space enhancement and strategic development.

Its main tasks are as follows:

Manage and enhance the value of the port's grounds, in conjunction with the various users,

Ensure environmental compliance of port activities and projects,

Manage developments and works on Bordeaux Port Authority (GPMB) assets,

Support industrial projects contributing to the energy transition, national sovereignty or decarbonization,
