INDUSTRY

The Bassens and Ambès industrial zones are winners of ADEME's "Zone Industrielle Bas Carbone" (ZIBAC) call for projects, which supports pioneering territories and industries in their commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Ambes

Joining forces, some twenty industrial and institutional players responded collectively to the ZIBAC call for projects, giving birth to the Bees-ZIP action program (for Bordeaux Energies Eau Environnement et Synergies en Zones Industrielles et Portuaires). This success testifies to the intense collaboration that has been underway for over a year.

Initiated by the Bordeaux Port Authority, Bordeaux Métropole, Michelin, Sarp Industries Aquitaine et Pyrénées (SIAP), EDF and TEREGA, this cooperation aims to accelerate the ecological transition of industries and the region.

THE STATED OBJECTIVE

Reduce fossil CO2 emissions by 93% by 2050, and recover 100% of the region's biogenic CO2. Trajectories for decarbonation and valorization will be established, taking into account the results of the twenty or so studies scheduled over 24 months.

The Bordeaux Port Authority, Bordeaux Métropole and EDF are among the founding members of Bees-ZIP.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE
BEES-ZIP ACTION PROGRAM

The program also encourages collaboration with other regions involved in the ZIBAC approach, in order to make collective progress towards the industry of tomorrow. The objectives of the Bees-ZIP action program are to :

・Develop the energy mix and promote synergies between players
・Preserve water and pool resources
・Capture, store and reuse CO2 emissions
・Develop employment and training
・Preserve biodiversity
・Working with and for citizens
・Welcome new virtuous industries by optimizing industrial land
・Upgrading port and storage infrastructures

In most French ports, associations federate the actions of manufacturers.

In Bordeaux, the "Bees ZIP" association (Bordeaux énergies Eau Environnement et Synergies en Zones Industrielles et Portuaires) is in charge of the studies and acts as a catalyst to animate, federate and structure local players wishing to commit to an ambitious and sustainable environmental transition.
